Crime scene Ruhr area, Duisburg Bruckhausen
What's life like in a district that has been almost given up, that people look at with nothing but suspicion, a district that has to struggle with the heavy industry of ThyssenKrupp and a highway right in front of the resident´s home, and which is now, as part of the project "Grüngürtel-Duisburg-Nord", supposed to be almost knocked down completely? How do people live in a district like Bruckhausen with a feeling of not really belonging anywhere? What's it like to lose your home, your apartment and your house? What does the city council has to say about this?
Within our design-diploma we, Carina Linnemann and Karoline Borsch, have set ourselves the task of developing a format that allows people from the outside to literally "look behind the facade", for once. The result is "Brucklyn", a report in book form about a district in the Ruhr area and its inhabitants in the year 2010.
